HOULTON - Neil Foster Cowperthwaite passed away on April 26, 2023 at Eastern Maine Medical Center while surrounded by family.
Neil was born in Lewiston to Albro and Marion Cowperthwaite. He graduated as Salutatorian of his class at Houlton High School in 1964. Neil went on to graduate from West Point Military Academy in 1968. He served in the United States Army and went to Vietnam shortly after graduation. When he completed his military service he returned to Houlton and worked for the family restaurant business. He later opened a Radio Shack and then Mailboxes International.
Neil is survived by his siblings Kevin, Mary and Albro Jr.
Neil will be dearly missed by his spouse of 45 years, Pam. Neil leaves behind his children, Catherine of New Orleans, Jonathan of Atlanta, and Anne Marie of Bangor. He was a proud grandfather to Lauren, Courtney, Laney, Kate, and Quinn.
Neil was a lifelong learner and enjoyed the arts, history and travel. He was a generous donator to many community events and causes. He will be remembered fondly for his generosity, mischievous demeanor and his ever present kind gestures to those in need.
Services will be held at Bowers Funeral Home Tuesday, May 2nd. His family will receive condolences between 1-2pm with a service at 2pm. Refreshments to follow at American Legion.
