It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nguyet Thi Tran known as Ba Co But, a dedicated and hardworking daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her. She passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family in Prattville (Montgomery), Alabama.
Nguyet was born on February 25, 1934. She and her husband, Tran Van But, immigrated to America in 1975 with their 10 children. Ba Co was a pillar of strength, kindness, and selflessness throughout her life. In her earlier years, she lovingly cared for her ailing father-in-law, showing immense patience and compassion. She also worked relentlessly caring for others, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren.
If you knew her, you knew she loved tending to her garden which was filled with a variety of herbs, fruits and vegetables. We can all recall the countless days where she would enrich us with her meals with the fruits of her labor. Let's not forget about the homemade "gio" and "moc" that she made for all her loved ones. Ba Co was also an active church member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church of Pensacola, FL until she moved to Montgomery, AL where she was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church. Her life was also full of generosity in which she was deeply involved in charitable endeavors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, OB Tran Van Ho; sister, Tran Thi Ty; brother, Tran Van Duong; and her oldest son, Tran Van Ngac (Ngo).
Ba Co is survived by her lifelong husband, Tran Van But; daughters, Tran Thi Than (Hai), Tran Thi Men (Dinh), Tran Van Luyen (Thom), Tran Van Tap (Tot), Tran Van Thi, Tran Van Chuong, Tran Van Thien (Kim), Tran Thi Dung/Donna (Lee), Tran Thi Tuyet/Traci (Griff); countless grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Tran Van Nhat.
