Nicholas “Nick” Sanchez was born in Santa Fe NM October 15 1994. Baptized Nicholas Benjamin Edward Sanchez. He went home with the Lord with his family by his side at home in Rio Rancho, NM on February 4, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Benjamin “Benny” E. Sanchez Sr. and Lillian Romero Sanchez, Maternal Grandfather Nick V. Martinez. Uncle Vincent Sanchez, Aunts, Vivian Sanchez, Marie Sanchez Bonnel.
Nick bravely fought his illness, undergoing multiple surgeries, and treatments with no complaints. He lost his battle with GBM brain cancer but not without leaving his mark on this world. Nick was a humble man, turning down a scholarship to Oxford to remain in his home state New Mexico to graduate from UNM with dual majors Applied Mathematics (Cum Laude) and Statistics (Cum Laude) and a minor in a Philosophy and was pursuing a degree in Physics. He worked as an analyst for Western skies Health and then Tecolote, a government. D.O.D. contractor. His interests were Chess, Astronomy, Astrophysics, and extensive reading books by Carl Sagan, Stephan Hawking, Albert Einstein and the likes, also Programming in several computer languages. He loved crunching numbers. His intelligence was only exceeded by his kind and gentle nature. He was always willing to help anyone from his niece/nephews to coworkers. He was a quiet and private man but always had a sense of witty humor and always helpful. His kind and gentle demeanor and gentle soul will be remembered by those who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his Parents, Benjamin “Benny” E. Sanchez Jr. and Valerie Martinez Sanchez. Brother Steven Martinez. Sisters, Maria Sanchez and Monica Sanchez. Nephews, Manny, Anthony and Jonathon. Nieces, Kaylee, Arianna and Julia.
Numerous cousins of whom all loved him dearly.
