Olga Sobaszek, 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 29, 2024. She was born on September 8th in 1964, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jorge H. Landa and Amparo Mejia. She was the third of five children.
Olga attended Hobby Elementary, Dick Dowling Middle School, James Madison High School and Houston Community College. After graduation, she began her career in retail then transitioned into Healthcare, where she served for the next 20+ years. She also simultaneously started and owned a 20+ year online retail business. She earned certifications as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Radiation Oncology Certified Coder (R.O.C.C.) She was highly involved in the revenue cycle of billing and coding.
She lived in
Houston, Texas and married Jose Eduardo Sobaszek on April 13, 2015. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church.

Wherever she went she made friends. Olga had a vibrant, dynamic, and colorful personality. Special friends: Dr. Isidora Arzu, Sheila Sobremente, friends at M.D. Anderson Cancer center in Radiation Oncology business office, therapy, dosimetry, other faculty and retired friends from MD Anderson Cancer Center. She was a part of American Association of Professional Coding (AAPC) and American Medical Accounting and Consulting organizations. She was playful, loving, and a creative entrepreneur that had a high work ethic. She loved family, meeting people, collecting small miniature items, and soft plushies.
Most important events were the birth of her two children, her grandchildren and her marriage. Her favorite song and movie: "Gonna Fly Now"; Rocky Her favorite music groups/singers: Chicago, Jay Perez, Selena Quintanilla, Barry Manilow, Garth Brooks, Barry White Her favorite hobbies and activities: Online retail. She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, often winning jackpots. She loved the serenity and beauty of the beach. She also spent time taking care of her dogs and kittens and worked within the community SPCA for lost and found pets.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Norma L. Lazcano, and Javier Arzate, Sr.
She leaves behind her husband, Jose, two children, Jessica Arzate Thomas and husband Jerry Thomas, Javier Arzate, Jr, her three grandchildren, Kayla Harleyquinn Albarran, Jerry Thomas, III, and Gwendolyn Thomas, and a host of loving and extended family members and friends.
Honorary Pall bearers for the service are Gonzalo Luna, Jerry Thomas, Joey Mejia, Alex Mejia, Charles Pascal, Edwardo Arzate, and Jose Eduardo Sobaszek.
