Pamela Marie Barton

Pamela Marie (Visocky) Barton – beloved wife, mother and grandma - of Greenville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Nancy, as well as her brother, Paul. She is survived by her husband, Steve; their son Kyle; her daughter in-law, Rena; her granddaughter, Juniper; her brothers (& sister in-laws), Mark, Kirk, Tim (& Lisa), Barry (& Bobbie), and Doug; her sister (& brother in-law), Beth (& Dave); her sister in-law, Marlene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pam was born to Robert and Nancy (Oretel) Visocky on July 13, 1954 in New London, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of eight children. Growing-up she spent time baby-sitting her siblings and cousins, enjoying dilly bars from the Dairy Queen in New London, and her six-year-old self might be seen walking to church all by herself. Pam graduated from Hortonville High School in 1972 and continued her education at Fox Valley Tech. Upon graduation she moved to New London to live with her grandparents and worked as a nursing aide at the local hospital.
Pam met her husband of 47 years, Steven Allen Barton, at the Cozy Bar in New London on Christmas Eve before midnight mass, while Steve was bartending at his parent's bar during a college break. After a brief, yet very romantic, long-distance relationship they were married on December 27, 1975. Upon getting hitched, Steve and Pam happily shacked up together in Madison, Wisconsin, where she worked as nursing aid until Steve graduated from UW.
In 1977 they moved to California. During their 5-year stay in California Pam was extremely resilient to the nomadic military life; she worked countless jobs up and down the coast in order to make ends meet during the many military transfers. In 1981, Pam gave birth to their only son, Kyle, at Fort Ord, California (outside of Monterey). As a young family they briefly moved to Panama City Beach, Florida before moving to the Philippines for two years, traveling across the Far East.
In 1985 they moved to Chantilly, Virginia (near Washington DC metro), where she worked full-time, raised her son Kyle and served as an extremely patient wife to her occasionally wayward husband. She proudly called herself a Kool-Aid mom and always had a pitcher of sugar-free Kool-Aid and snacks ready for the neighborhood kids on a hot, humid summer day. The 1980s was without a doubt Pam's favorite decade – she loved the style and of course 80s pop disco dance music. Pam went back to school and at the age of 40 earned her associates degree in nursing with honors from NOVA Community College, and then began working as an RN in a private practice.
In 2002 Pam gave up suburban life for the beach in Panama City Beach (PCB), Florida. When Pam wasn't enjoying happy hour popcorn and wine she worked for the State of Florida as a nursing case worker. Upon Pam and Steve's return to Virginia in 2013 Pam retired from nursing. During her retirement years she enjoyed walking, exercising, traveling, taking family trips and being a grandma. Upon Steve's retirement in 2018, Pam and Steve moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family.
Pam will be remembered by her friends and family as a strong, personable, spiritual, self-less, and caring friend, wife, mother and grandma. Pam will be forever in thoughts, heart and mind.
