Paul Emile Ares, 92, of Plainville, MA; formerly of Sharon, MA; went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2025, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Claire Lucille (Coutu) Ares with whom he enjoyed almost 70 years of matrimony.
Born in Norwood, MA on October 27, 1932, he was a son of the late Rosaire Maurice Ares and the late Adrienne (Gobeil) Ares. He was a "double eagle" having graduated from both Boston College High School and Boston College where he majored in mathematics.
He was the owner and operator of the former Paul's Radio and TV that repaired, sold and serviced equipment at its Sharon, MA location for 43 years.
Mr. Ares was a communicant, Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Martha Parish in Plainville since moving to the community in 1998. Previously, while a resident of Sharon, MA, he was a communicant, served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the parish councils at both churches.
While residing in Sharon, he was instrumental in the building of the local band stand, was a member of the Rotary Club and a member of the Sharon Centennial Celebration Committee. He was always involved in the annual Memorial Day and July 4th celebrations in both communities.
He enjoyed playing and teaching cribbage, gardening but was happiest when surrounded by his family creating lifelong memories to treasure. Mr. Ares will be forever remembered as a "good man".
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children: Michael Ares of Norton, MA; David Ares of Millinocket, Maine; Paul Ares of Norton, MA; Diane West of Plainville, MA; James Ares of Northboro, MA; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
He was the brother of the late John L. Ares, Roland D. Ares, Bernadette D. Hixon and Lucille Murphy.
Family and friends are warmly welcome to attend Visitation on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
The funeral cortege will commence on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 9:15 am from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martha Parish, 227 South Street, Plainville, MA.
Burial will follow in Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon, MA.
At the conclusion of graveside services, an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
Please omit flowers. Memorial donations in Paul's name may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Martha Parish, 227 South Street, Plainville, MA 02762.
