Paul J. Gallenstein, age 64 of Fort Collins, Colorado died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2023, while hiking in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. A visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 pm Sunday, September 17th at Goes Funeral Care, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite D, Fort Collins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am Monday, September 18th at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 300 West Mountain Ave., Fort Collins. A reception will follow the Mass in the Parish Hall. Interment will be held privately at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.
Paul Joseph Gallenstein was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 4, 1959, the youngest of five children born to Bob and Marjorie Gallenstein. He grew up in North Andover, Massachusetts until his family moved to Colorado when he was 14 years old. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1977 and received a BS degree in Economics from Colorado State University in 1981. He worked in the family business out of college as a regional manager for Brady Oil.
Paul married Cindy on August 2, 1987, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Collins.
After his father sold Brady Oil, Paul's entrepreneurial spirit led him to work with the Better Business Bureau, then he got into insurance and securities and finally computers before he began to develop Sunflower Active Adult Community in Fort Collins. In 2016, Paul and Cindy retired after 20 years of developing and operating Sunflower as landlords.
Paul and Cindy enjoyed traveling and cooking and entertaining at their home. He loved fly fishing with his buddies and tying flies in anticipation of the next outing. He also enjoyed playing golf with both Cindy and his buddies. Always the perfectionist, he constantly strove to improve his own skills and had helpful pointers for those with whom he spent time. A special passion of his, since he had no children of his own, was to mentor and help young adults become successful. He mentored many over the years and many kept in touch with him up to the present. Paul was just one of those guys who people liked to be around.
If anyone wishes to contribute, in lieu of flowers and plants, Paul would have wanted any memorial donations to be made to St. Joseph Catholic School.
Mass of Christian Burial will be livestream on September 18th. Please follow the link below to attend virtually: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfTYqQ96sVNl3ED-UZFF0eA
