Paul Edwin Hunt died peacefully at home June 25, 2022, after a 6 month battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Paul was born March 14, 1950, in Ferndale, Michigan to Charles Edwin Hunt and Beneitha Bell (nee McPhee) Hunt.
Paul grew up in Southfield and was a 1968 graduate of Southfield High School. He was voted MVP in High School because he excelled in sports, particularly basketball, but he loved baseball and football as well. He went on to attend Central Michigan University to study business and then competed his studies at Wayne State.
After college, he joined his father's machining business; after 4 years he and his brother purchased it and then ran it for the next 46 years. He had an entrepreneurial spirit as a young boy with his newspaper route that rendered him a payday. He would take his pay and go buy coffee and donuts and sell them to construction workers and double his money. He loved the idea of business and was a strategic thinker and possessed an engineering mind.
He loved Jesus and embraced the Orthodox Church and was baptized in the faith before he married Pamela on August 16, 1980. From 1980-1992, they were members of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church in Troy. In 1992, he and Pamela transferred to St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral where he sang in the church choir, was President of the church council for 3 consecutive years and was an active member in the church community.
He loved being hospitable and entertaining good friends with good food. He was also a strategic thinker; he enjoyed all things strategic and loved golf and poker. He was part of a poker league and placed 2nd in the league just last year.
Most importantly, he was a man of honor and integrity. He stayed in business for 50 years, always remaining a man of his word; if he said he was going to do something he did. His family could always count on him. A devoted man of great faith, he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela, his daughters, Alexis Jacqueline (Brock) Massaro and Allison Sarah (Kyle) Kaufmann, and his grandsons who bear his name, Brock Paul and Axel Edwin. He is also survived by his brothers, Doug (Jan) Hunt and Ralph Hunt, as well as many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hunt.
Family and friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, Clawson, Wednesday, June 29, 3-8pm. Saracusta 7:30pm. The Funeral Service will take place at St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, Southfield, Thursday, June 30, 11am, immediately followed by committal services at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp.
