Paul A. Philip, III passed away on Pentecost Sunday, June 8, 2025 due to severe pneumonia and heart issues. Life was a struggle for Paul, but now that struggle is over. Though he had difficulty navigating life in some ways, he had a strong, abiding faith in the Lord which sustained him through his many trials and tribulations. He read the Bible regularly and was an ardent devotee of St. Padre Pio, praying with his reflections daily.
Paul worked at various construction jobs during his life. He was always willing to share his knowledge of the construction trade, frequently discussing and giving his father advice on various home projects. He would diligently help family members with home improvement and maintenance tasks, no matter how large or small.
Paul was a gifted artist who was able to express the beauty of God's creation through the many projects he lovingly created for family. His artwork was meticulous. He had an eye for detail and beauty, often including themes and quotes from the scriptures. Paul was also a talented chef who enjoyed creating gourmet meals as gifts for the family. His ability to find joy in the smallest blessings was an inspiration. He had an optimism which allowed him to greet each day with a sustaining hope. All who knew him appreciated his wonderful sense of humor.
The excitement he had at the birth of his Savior each year started as a small child and never diminished. As everyone knew, Christmas was his favorite time of year. His faith in God was unshakable even from his earliest years.
Though we will miss his kind heart and his wide, warm smile, we are comforted by the knowledge that he is basking in the Lord's love in a place of endless joy, where he will be healthy and happy forever. We know we are only temporarily separated from him; we live in the hope of one day seeing that beautiful smile once again and enjoying his company.
Paul is survived by his loving family: his mother, Laurie Pierce (Glenn), his father Paul Philip, Jr. (Suzanne), his sister Helen, his paternal grandmother (Lois), and a plethora of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills on Monday, June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Fields Church in Millersville, Maryland.
