Paulette Parker Wheeler Jefferson, age 75, departed this Earthly Life on Monday, September 15, 2025. She was born April 22, 1950, to James MeHarry Parker and Lucille Jalvia Parker in
New Orleans, Louisiana. Paulette attended The Academy of The Holy Angels School in her early childhood. Paulette gave her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. Joan of Ark Catholic Church in New Orleans, until she joined the New Zion Baptist Church.
Paulette received her educational foundation in the New Orleans Public School System, where she graduated in 1967 from McDonogh 35 Senior High School. She pursued higher education at Dillard University. Paulette earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1973, and Paulette continued her education and received a Master's in Education from Xavier University in New Orleans.
Subsequently she was employed as a dedicated teacher with the New Orleans and Jefferson Parrish Public School Systems. Faithfully serving for more than 40+ years. Paulette was a proud Golden Graduate of Dillard University, celebrating 50 years in 2023.
Paulette touched many lives with her loving kindness, understanding, and generous spirit. She was endearing to many, a friend and a confidant. Paulette embraced those attributes of character, love of GOD, truth, honesty, and integrity. She instilled these attributes within her family, students and friends.
To know Paulette was to love her. GOD knew she was getting weary; GOD did exactly what he knew was best. GOD came and stood beside her and whispered to her, my child come home to rest. She was a kind, loving, caring, compassionate, intelligent, and free spirit woman. Paulette was a true angel of GOD. She was a doting mother always cheering upon her two sons and her students.
Paulette was a hard worker that would care for anyone in need. She loved sharing her devoted time with family, friends, and her church family. Paulette loved traveling, shopping and watching the New Orleans Saints. She had a passion for teaching and had grown to be a pillar of education. She was phenomenal woman and beautiful soul.
Paulette will be remembered for many roles, a wife, a mother to all aspects, aunt, provider, mentor, teacher and a devoted friend. Throughout her life she created everlasting memories and we're privileged to have had her in our lives. Paulette is a true legacy of love, she will always be in our hearts, mind and spirit.
Paulette was preceded in death by her son, Troy Michael Wheeler; parents, James MeHarry Parker and Lucille Jalvia Parker; brother, Willard Parker; aunt/uncle, Lilian Williams (Lawrence); brother/cousin, Lawrence Williams Jr.
Paulette is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Jefferson; her strong and caring son, Eric J. Wheeler (Myaia); grandpup, Posh Knox Wheeler; stepchildren, Ramona Baptiste Lecompte (Jacob), Marcus Chisley (Temika); Grand Children and Great Grand Children, Tariq-Micah Wheeler, Paul Baptiste, Cody Williams, Meya Bryant, Kami Williams; sisters, Carol E. Lang and Andre Hoskins (Sister/Cousins) Ramona Skidmore (Matthew), Gail Harris (Eddie), Glenda Williams, Connie Banister; Brother/Cousins, Alcide Bougere (Margurette), Jerome Bougere (Carol), (Niece) Tamika Delatte (Darryl) (Great Nieces) Raven Roberts, Erin Stewart a host of other relatives, friends, and the New Orleans and Jefferson Parrish School System families.
Paulette will truly be missed by all who knew her, and she will always remain in our hearts.
Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, October 4, 2025, 10:00AM, at New Zion Baptist Church, 2319 Third St., NOLA. Visitation will he held from 9:00AM until the hour of service. Internment Private
