Phil Bowers

Phil Bowers passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023. He was born on November 22, 1950 in Nashville, Tennessee to Paul and Ruby Bowers. He spent most of his childhood and adult life in Georgia. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1968. He then attended David Lipscomb College where he got Bachelor of Science in Business Management graduating magna cum laude in 1972. He then got a Master of Business Administration in Finance in 1973 from Georgia State University. He went on to get his CPA license.
In 1981, he graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor in Law from the University of Georgia. He then went on to get a Master of Laws degree from Emory University in 1989.
During his professional career he worked for Peat Marwick Mitchell in Atlanta from 1981 to 1984. From 1984 to 2008 he worked for Georgia-Pacific and left there as Principal Tax Counsel. He worked as an attorney in the office of the Inspector General for the State of Georgia in the Program Integrity Section from 2012 to 2015. He ended his professional career as a contract attorney/Policy Analyst for the Medicaid Division of the State of Georgia.
Phil was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where he met the love of his life, Cindy McAlister. They married on July 29, 1978. They had two beautiful, talented and amazing daughters, Kate and Amanda. Phil was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy, daughters Amanda and Kate, Kate's husband RJ and their daughter Oaklee, as well as, his sister in love, Linda, and her daughter Ashley.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 28, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM in the Bill Head Funeral Home Lilburn/Tucker Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Memory of Phil to Georgia Agape.
