Phyllis Ann Metcalf

Phyllis Ann Metcalf, 80, of Pendleton, Indiana passed away October 20, 2023, following a 2 ½ year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born March 1, 1943, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Lloyd and Jane Jefferson. Phyllis graduated from Gaston High School in 1961. After graduation, Phyllis attended Elkhart University where she studied to be an x-ray tech and lab technician. Phyllis worked for Hooks, Revco and CVS in Pendleton for 38 years as a pharmacy technician. Phyllis married William (Bill) Metcalf of Anderson on May 25, 1963. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2002. To this union were born two daughters.
She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, playing cards in her many card clubs and she was an avid sports fan. She loved fishing, gardening and bird-watching. Phyllis and the girls started quilting in September 2022.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Jo D. (Bill) Cross, Candy (Jim) Stewart; three grandsons, Collin (Hailie) Stewart; Jacob and Campbell Cross. One great-grandson Stetson Stewart; brother, Jeff Jefferson (Rick McDonald); special uncle, Fredous Jefferson, several cousins, nieces and nephews, many special friends from her card clubs and former Mount Gilead members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronald Jefferson; father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Helen Cammack, several special aunts, uncles, cousins, and a niece and nephew.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 3 PM to 7 PM at Wilson St. Pierre, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton, Indiana. Service immediately following at 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Mendon Cemetery.
