Pierre Whitney "Sonny" Brignac Jr.

Pierre Whitney Brignac, Jr., affectionately known as "Sonny", born February 13, 1947, passed away February 10, 2025, at his home in Port Allen at the age of 77. A native and lifelong resident of Port Allen, Sonny was a retired machinist and the owner of Onsite Services, Inc. A strong, honorable man, he was a proud Army Veteran. An avid outdoorsman and nature lover, he shared his passion for fishing with others. Traveling extensively with his loving wife, Jeanne, they spent 62 days on the east coast and 64 days on the west coast on his beloved Harley Davidson. Possessing a generous heart and quick wit, he shared his time and talent with others. Sonny loved the challenge of fixing anything whether for work, neighbors, family and friends and was happiest piddling in his shop. Visiting will be at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly on Thursday, February 13th, from 9:15 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Jerry Martin. Burial will be private in Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge at a later date. Sonny is survived by his cherished wife of 55 years, Jeanne Vavasseur Brignac; grandson, Shawn Anthony Brignac and wife Ashley; great-granddaughter, Rhaelyn Phoenix Brignac; brother, Paul Brignac; brothers-in-law, Edgar Vavasseur and wife Brenda, Glyn Vavasseur and wife Judy. Sonny was welcomed home by his son, Shane A. Brignac; parents, Pierre Whitney Sr and Rose D'Aquano Brignac; in-laws, Terryn Brignac; Ione Vavasseur Couvillon and husband Ronald, Noel Vavasseur Read and husband Ron, Rev. Henry Vavasseur, Phil Vavasseur, Al Vavasseur, Marie Adele Vavasseur and Rev. David A. Vavasseur Jr. Sonny was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly, Millwright Local #720, and American Legion Post 160 of Port Allen as well as an honorary member of the West Baton Rouge Flotilla.
