Mrs. Polly Booth Hancock, age 89, passed away on Monday evening, October 2, 2023 at her home in Americus.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Friday, October 6, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Minister Keith Wishum officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 5, at Hancock Funeral Home, between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM, and at other times at the family residence, 119 Cedar Ridge Drive in Americus.
The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Billy Barrett, David Barrett, Tim Barrett, Steve Hancock, Don Hancock, and Chris Wylie.
Born April 4, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Edward Booth and the late Eva Clyde Hutchinson Booth. A faithful member of Williams Road Church of Christ, she worked in the family owned business H&W Bait and Tackle for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Peyton Hancock; by two brothers, James Booth and Jack Booth; and by a sister, Peggy Booth Sutton.
Survivors include her children: Roland Peyton Hancock, Jr. (Angie) and Debra Hancock Womack (Johnny), all of Americus; grandchildren: Jade Wylie (Chris) and Rolie Hancock (Marissa); great-grandson Kyler Wylie; and one sister, Joann Booth Seawright.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Georgia Sheriffs' Boys' Ranch, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281; or to Williams Road Church of Christ, 110 Williams Road, Americus, GA 31709.
