Quinton "Q" Blackstone

Quinton "Q" Blackstone graced this world with his birth on March 27, 1956, and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Quinton was born to the late Myrtle Blackstone Blazio and the late Joseph Bartholomew, Sr. both of New Orleans, Louisiana. Quinton was educated in the Orleans Parish School System during his elementary and junior high school years. He received his high school diploma fromWest Feliciana High School.
With his strong passion for being a counselor, he later attended Houston Community College, Houston TX where he received his Certificate as a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor. He was so passionate and charismatic that he found friends and family everywhere he went, and he touched the lives of so many. Quinton has such an infectious smile that would melt anyone's heart that he met.
Quinton accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a very young age and was baptized at Pentecost Baptist Church by the late Pastor, Reverend Charles B. Winslow, Sr. In 2001, Quinton moved to Houston, Texas and joined the S. Post Oak B.C. (later named the Fountain of Praise), Senior Pastor, Dr. Remus E. Wright where he remained a member until his death. He was a very active member in his church; he was a member of the Brothers in the Gap (B.I.G.), Drama Ministry, Hospitality "Greeters" Ministry, Redeemed Prison Ministry, and Toast Masters. Other social committees Quinton served on during his lifetime was Jaycees, Angola Special Civic Project, and Angola Drama Club. His love and passion were working with troubled youth and motivating them to believe in themselves and sharing his personal experiences with them to try to keep them out of trouble.
His larger than life personality will be missed by a myriad of family and friends as he leaves behind his three daughters, Ynetha Evans Macon (Wayne), Erika and Yasmin Johnson of Houston, TX, five sisters, Rita Gray, Edwina Blackstone, Joy Blackstone, and Carmen Bartholomew of New Orleans, LA and JoAnn Armstrong of Las Vegas, NV, two brothers, Errol ( Janell) Blackstone, Sr, and Joseph (Kim) Bartholomew, Jr of New Orleans, LA, two sisters-in-law, Mercy Blackstone and Ruby Bartholomew; nephew-son, Joshua Blackstone; two grand-daughters, Patricia "Trish" and Lenora Evans; six grandsons, Steven and Kevin Evans, Wayne Macon, Jr, Tyrell Johnson, Joel Beal Jr, and Colby Flakes; two great-grandsons, Jamond Clark and Devante' Evans, one great-granddaughter, Royalty Bernard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Quinton was preceded in death by his son, Quinton 'Lil Quinton" Evans; parents, Myrtle Blackstone Blazio and Joseph Bartholomew Sr; his brothers; Leonard Blackstone, Sr and Vince Bartholomew, Sr; brother-in-law, Michael Armstrong Sr, and niece Yashica Blackstone-Minor. Q's spirit and gracious take on life will live on through the lives he touched during his tenure on this earth.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Next Generation/ Origianl Morning Star FGBC, 3536 St. Ferdinand St., NOLA, at 10:00AM. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until time of service. Pastor, Tyrone Smith officiating. Interment Private.
