Corporal Jared Norman Heine, United States Marine Corp, 32, was born to Steve and Mary Heine on May 20, 1989, left this earth for Heaven on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Oh, what a loving, charming son he was, as well as a father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend to all who knew him.
Jared is survived by his mother, Mary Strahan Heine, fiancé' Evan Anne Egana, daughter Savannah Elizabeth Heine, brother Austin Heine, his wife Brittany, their children Truett, Elizabeth and Madeline Heine of Monroe, LA; paternal grandfather, Norman E. "Pete" Heine of Baker, LA; maternal grandparents, Walter and Patsy Brown of Natchez, MS; aunts and uncles, Kathryn Heine, Charles Norman "Chuck" Heine, James Donald "Scooter" Heine and wife GiGi, Missy Strahan Montgomery, and numerous cousins.
Jared is also survived by his constant companion, his dog, Sergeant "Spike" Lee Heine.
Jared is preceded in death by his father Steven Kerry Heine, Sr., brother Steven Kerry Heine, II., paternal grandmother Georgia Pilcher Heine, maternal grandparents James Truett "Jim" Strahan and Rilla Welch Strahan; his uncles, James "Jim-Jim" Welch Strahan and George "Lee" Heine.
Jared was a member of St. Francisville United Methodist Church. He graduated West Feliciana High School in 2007 with honors. He was a member of Beta Club, and played soccer, tennis, football and golf.
Jared attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island South Carolina and graduated 2008. He was assigned as a field artillery cannoneer and trained at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from Fort Sill, he was assigned to Echo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marines at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay Hawaii. Jared deployed to Okinawa, Japan in 2010 and participated in live-fire training at Camp Fuji and Hijudai Japan. Upon returning to Hawaii, Jared and his unit E/2/12, participated in Exercise RIMPAC 2010. Shortly after this exercise, Jared was selected to be an IED dog handler and attended training in South Carolina. This is where he met his best buddy, Spike. Jared and Spike trained at Marine Corps Base 29 Palms, California in preparation for his unit's deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. Echo Battery was deployed to Kajaki, Afghanistan in May 2011 in support of US Operation Enduring Freedom. While deployed, Jared and Spike were responsible for finding improvised explosive devices during combat patrols across their area of operations. Jared and Spike were a highly successful team and found numerous IEDs and were credited with saving the lives of many Marines. Jared continued to volunteer for combat patrols even after he and Spike were subjected to multiple explosions. For his injuries, Jared was awarded the Purple Heart and also earned the combat action ribbon. Jared's dedication to his fellow Marines is what he is remembered for and is his legacy as a Marine.
He graduated from Louisiana Culinary Institute with honors and starred in "The Freshman", a realty television show.
Visitation will be held at Hemingbough 10101 Highway 965 West, Saint Francisville, LA on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service at noon. Reverend Daniel Hixon and Reverend Harold Babin will officiate the service.
