He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family.
Ralph is survived by his life partner of 39 years, Karla Ramsay of Island Falls, his children, Randy Shaffer of Florida, Scott Shaffer of Houlton, and Cory Shaffer of Caribou, his step children Matthew and Amy, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one sister Hope Wise of Connecticut.
He was predeceased by his parents, one brother Richard Shaffer Jr., and one sister, Geraldine.
