Regina Elizabeth Sommer

Regina Sommer (December 2nd, 1942 - July 6th, 2024)
Regina Sommer (nee Crowley) of Pennington, passed away Saturday July 6th, surrounded by loving family.
Regina was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, one of four children to James and Pauline Crowley. Having been the only girl raised in a houseful full of brothers, Regina developed a tough side, but she will always be remembered for her gentleness, compassion, and genuine concern for all that passed through her life. Her sense of humor, smile, and contagious laugh were enjoyed by all.
While working at New York Telephone Company, she developed life-long friendships which were instrumental in her eventual marriage to Harold (Harry) Sommer of Staten Island NY. Their courtship was short, as their mutual affection for travel, music, and their desire to start a family set them on their 50-plus year journey of marriage, first settling in Staten Island NY, with an eventual (and reluctant) move to "upstate" New York. There, Regina and Harry built a home full of love, laughter, and life lessons which they imparted on their three loving children.
Regina's commitment to her family will always be remembered through her incredible cooking talents (you've never had a meatball until you had Regina's), her dedication to attending every possible school or sporting event, from art exhibits to cross-country races at Bear Mountain, and the little league fields of Monroe, and the love and pride she took in maintaining her home. She was a constant presence, always there for guidance, support, and the occasional dosage of tough love.
Regina will rest in peace as she rejoins Harry on the other side of this earthly world, smiling down on all those she loved so dearly. She is survived by her children Diane, Jim, and Ken and their spouses Glenn, Maura, and Caroline. The light of her later years, grandchildren Rachel, Randi, James, Brendan, Ellie, Liam, Lily, and Luke who were lucky to have spent countless hours with Granna. Her brothers James, Paul, and John (deceased) and their wives Ginger, Carol, and Peggy as well as countless friends she touched over the years.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM on Saturday July 13th at St. Mary's, 45 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ. Internment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
