Richard Evans Obituary

Richard Nolan Evans “Grasshopper”, a beloved figure of unwavering dedication and warmth, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, with his devoted family by his side. He was born on January 27, 1953, in New Albany, where he would later graduate from New Albany High School.

Richard's career was marked by a steadfast commitment to construction, a field where he worked tirelessly throughout his life. His strong work ethic was evident to all who knew him, and he took immense pride in his craft, always striving to provide for his family. His legacy is not only one of hard work but also of devotion—a devoted father, loving grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Family was the cornerstone of Richard's life, and he cherished every moment spent with his daughters; Lolitha White, Nicole Evans, and Sharita Evans; siblings, Michael Ray, Sheila Dockery, Stephanie Hearn, Kimberly Hearn, and Monica Sutton (Mark); eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Those precious times, filled with laughter and love, served as the highlight of his life. Richard found true joy in watching his family grow, celebrating milestones and creating lasting memories together.

Richard's love for family was matched only by his vibrant personality, which was evident in his diverse interests. In his youth, he thrived on the basketball court, eventually playing at IUPUI, where he earned the nickname "Grasshopper" for his impressive hops. His enthusiasm extended to sports fandom, as he passionately supported the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Louisville basketball team. Richard also relished the excitement of NASCAR races, finding joy in the adrenaline of the competition. A fan of classic westerns, he often sought comfort in stories that mirrored his own values of courage and resilience. Yet, the moments he cherished most were those spent with his brother Mike, who later became his dedicated caregiver.

Richard is survived by his three daughters, who carry forward his spirit of love and hard work to their own children. He also leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength, instilled in the hearts of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly remember the warmth of his presence.

Though Richard has joined his parents, Charlotte Hearn and Morgan Hearn, and siblings Pamela Rice, and Robert Ray in eternal rest, the impact he made on those around him will forever resonate. He will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, inspiring them to embrace life with the same passion and dedication he embodied.

A celebration of Richard's life will take place at a later date.
