Years ago, I had many great hunting memories with Rick and the Gebert family. When I reflect back to people you have shared hunts with, Rick was one of few that had a special gift for being a leader in the field and an excellent woodsmen. Rick also brought color and happiness while in his presence.

In 1990, I was fortunate to join Rick and Pat on an elk hunt near Chama New Mexico. During the hunt, Rick invited mountain bikers to our camp that were lost in the rain and needed a place to rest. Rick offered them direction, food, a warm fire and "Tang" vodka beverages until daybreak. On our way home from the trip, he willingly picked up a depressed man hitchhiking on the interstate. He paid for his meals at every diner and treated him as though he was a friend. Crossing half the united states until the mans destination, Rick discussed with the stranger of his recent break-up with his wife, and eliminated the mans depression while lifting his spirits. His display of dialogue, compassion and kindness throughout that trip, taught me more as a young man than the actual hunt itself. Thanks Rick! I know you have found your place in heaven.

Totally shocked to hear of the passing of Rick. Always seemed so energetic and full of life. Worked with Rick at Consolidated Papers for years in the Supercalendar department and then on to supervision. Many good times to be had at work. Will miss you!

My deepest condolences to Rick's extended family and friends. I worked with Rick for 17 yrs in the super calendar dept at the paper mill. He was quick witted, and always had a new joke or saying everyday. I also went up to park falls with him to run bear a few times over the years. We stayed at "Doc's" place on butternut lake.
RIP Rick Gebert, I'll miss ya.
