Brunswick, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 5, 2023.
Richard was born September 15th, 1960, to the late Richard A. and Judith R. (nee Tibbitts) Manco I. After graduating from Brunswick High School in 1978, he went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed in
Yuma, Arizona, where he spent nearly 15 years. During that time he had 2 beautiful children, developed a passion for electronics, enjoyed playing softball, and created lifelong friendships that he always treasured.
Richard's knowledge and talent led him back home to Ohio, where he enjoyed his career at NASA Glenn Research Center. It was here that he would again find the love of his life, go on to marry her and fully thrive in his career. Richard's hard work, passion and dedication in his field of work would lead to numerous awards and recognitions including the prestigious Silver Snoopy pin awarded by NASA Astronaut Office to employees who have significantly contributed to the space agency goals for human exploration and development of space; and two Steven V Szabo Engineering Excellence Awards for excellence in engineering that contributes to Glenn's mission.
Outside of work, Richard was an avid sports fan with a love for his Cleveland Teams. He enjoyed playing golf, restoring classic cars, listening to music, coaching his son's sports teams and spending time with "The Crew". Richard was a great man who was full of life and was taken too soon. Those who knew him were blessed and always knew they could count on him if they ever needed anything.
