Schulten, Richard Henry, 80, passed away on June 17th, 2022, with his loving wife by his side.
Rich was a member of the 1st graduating class of DeSales in 1960 and went on to graduate from Bellarmine College and the University of Louisville Law School. He was an attorney for over 50 years and worked as the Chief Prosecutor of the criminal division for over two decades. He was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, South Park Country Club, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Richard was an avid sports and horse racing fan.
Rich was very generous and hospitable, opening his door to anyone in need.
Preceding him in death is his grandson, Colton Herberger; parents, Max & Elaine Schulten; and sister, Marilyn Carlin.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Schulten; and their 9 children, Dr. Chris Schulten (Amie) – Noah, Gabbie, and Maddie; Andy Schulten (Stephanie) – Jake, Josh, Samantha, and Mara; Dr. Thad Schulten (Michelle) – Trent and Meredith; Neil Schulten (Chelle) – Chase and Jackson; Deron Schulten Esq. (Jenny) – Laine, Reid, Sophia, and Quinn; Lindsay Aubrey (Justin) – Austin, Blake, and Harper; Missy Herberger (Greg) – Carter, Annaleigh, and Emma; Courtenay Daugherty (Will) – Cooper, Jude, Caroline, and Juliette; and Dustin Schulten (Brianne); along with one brother, Fred Schulten (Soco).
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the staff, nurses, and doctors at the UofL Oncology floors for their over and above caring service to our entire family.
His funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 23rd, 10 a.m. at St. Thomas More, 6105 S Third Street, Louisville, KY 40214. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22nd, 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Drive. Burial in Calvary Cemetery to follow Mass.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Harbor House, 2231 Lower Hunters Trace, Louisville, KY 40258 or to Kids Center - Pediatric Therapy, 982 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY 40217.
