Ricky Messick Obituary

Ricky dedicated many years of his life to his work at Gibson Guitar. Outside of work, he was an incredibly passionate football fan, especially for the Tennessee Vols and the Tennessee Titans. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he rarely missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JC and Wanda Messick, and his sister, Tonya Messick.
Ricky is survived by his loving sister, Kim Childress; his niece, Leslie Carney, and her husband, Matthew Carney; his great-niece, Sabrina Carney; his uncle, Jerry Messick; and his dear friend of 20 years, Bill Ayers. He also leaves behind several cousins who will cherish his memory.
Services A visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Manchester Funeral Home from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Following the service, Ricky will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family has a special request for those attending: please honor Ricky's memory by wearing jeans and your favorite team shirt, especially if it's the Tennessee Vols. In a playful nod to his fierce loyalty, Alabama fans will be asked to stay outside. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Ricky, please visit our floral store.
