Rita Morgan Darkis, 68, of Vallonia, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Baptist Health in Louisville. She had been seriously ill for 5 months.
Rita was born on August 11, 1956, to the late George Calvin Morgan and Margaret Davers Lawson. She was a graduate of Brownstown Central High School. On December 30, 1983, Rita married Tracy L. Darkis, and he survives in Vallonia.
Other survivors include her children: Rhea Goen of Salem, Ramie (Robert) Burns of South Boston, and Tracy Dean Darkis of Vallonia; grandchildren: Mackenzie Blevins, Ashley Montgomery, Kyle Darkis, Olivia Darkis, Ally Goen, Isabella Goen, Morgan Hensley, Devin LaPointe, Jerome LaPointe, & Silas Burns; 3 great grandchildren; sisters: Ruby Tompkins, Rhonda Wells, & Lillie Kramer.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Morgan.
Funeral services for Rita will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Matt Roberts officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The burial will take place at Plattsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Donor's Choice.
