Robert "Bob" McKay Anderson, 84, of Warwick, formerly of Groton, CT, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Eleanor (Gilligan) Anderson for over 55 years. Born in New London, CT, he was the son of the late William Barrie and Eleanor Claire (Woods) Anderson.
Bob was raised in Groton, Connecticut and had a lifelong pride in his Connecticut roots. He graduated from Fitch High School in Groton in 1959 and maintained connections with his classmates through monthly class reunions. From 1959-1963, Bob honorably served in the United States Navy and was the proud recipient of the Shellback Award which commemorated his crossing of the Equator. He went on to receive his Master's Degree in Finance from Bryant University and enjoyed a successful career as an Accountant. Bob worked as an Accountant for Rhode Island Hospital for over twenty-two years, then VNA of Rhode Island, and later Newport County Mental Health. He also served as a Lifeguard for many years and enjoyed bowling. Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle who will be greatly missed.
Alongside his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his beloved children, Mark (Holly) of Glendale, AZ, Brendan of Warwick, and Colleen Herbert (Chris) of Warwick, his grandchildren, Skylar, Samson (U.S.N.), Ruby-Love, Teagan, Gavin and Maggie-Beth, his brother Barrie (Isa), and several cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Jean Anderson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 2:00PM-5:00PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will be announced at a later date.
