Robert Jay Bishop, affectionately known as “Bob” or “Hotwheelz,” age 62, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on October 9, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on March 30, 1963, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Harry and Mary Bishop.
On October 11, 2014, Bob married the love of his life, Mary (Richards) Bishop. He had a deep love for life and enjoyed rodeos, fairs, car shows, fishing, concerts, and art shows—but above all, he treasured spending time with his family and friends. Bob never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.
He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Johnsville Fire Department and was an active member of several organizations throughout his life, including the Mid-Ohio Fine Arts Society, the Patriot Guard Riders, Tortured Souls, and the Ohio Military Reserves (OHMR).
His greatest joy in life came from his children and grandchildren—who were truly his world.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Bishop; his father, Harry Bishop; his children: Justin Bishop (Jaime), Timothy Bishop, Tabatha Bell (Brian), Heidi Welch (Randy), Ann Carlos (Danny), and Paul Reynolds; his siblings: Mike Bishop (Kate) and Cathy Bishop (Rob); as well as several beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bishop, his grandson, Robert Bishop, and step-daughter Kelly Kruenagle.
As per Bob’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
