Robert J. Blum, age 71, of Southington, CT passed away unexpectedly June 29, 2022 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Lezotte) Blum. Robert was born December 20, 1950 in Waterbury, CT, a son of the late Robert J. and Ann (Byrnes) Blum. He was a 1968 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Providence College in 1973 and his MBA from University of Hartford in 1981.
Prior to his retirement, Bob started his career as a tax and auditing accountant at UniRoyal and then Anaconda. He used his business expertise and moved into senior business management positions in the healthcare field, as well as worked independently with his own consulting company.
Bob was very active for the greater part of his life. He loved golfing, boating, Providence basketball, hockey games, gardening and landscaping. He was a skier and a coach for many of his daughter, Lindsay's, teams. He cherished the ski trips that he and Lindsay took to Vermont and out West. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, especially to beach vacations, annual trips to Newport for 31 years, NYC, and to several European countries.
Family and friends meant the most to Bob and he was always there for them. He was always described as a 'true gentleman' in every sense of the word.
Besides his loving wife of 48 years, left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his daughter, Lindsay Rouff and her husband Andrew, and his precious granddaughter, Olivia. He also leaves behind a brother, Joseph Blum and his wife Karen; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nancy and Ted Emmons; a brother-in-law Adam Bosco; and a host of extended family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his sister-in-law Diane (Dervis) Bosco.
Arrangements: Robert's funeral will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
