Robert "Bob" Joseph Hauser, Sr.

 

Robert Joseph Hauser, Sr., known by friends and family as “Bob,” 79, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at his home in Winston-Salem surrounded by family.

 

Bob was born on February 27, 1944, in Forsyth County to Robert and Josephine Hauser. He graduated from Gray High School in Winston-Salem. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, eventually transferring to Mars Hill University, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Bob worked as an operations manager at BOC Packaging for over thirty years before retirement.

 

Bob was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for over fifty years, where he held many positions, including Awana Commander, Sunday school teacher, greeter, usher, deacon, and trustee. He was a lifelong fan of the Carolina Tar Heels.

 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents (Robert and Josephine Hauser). He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Sue Hauser; his son, Robert J. Hauser, Jr. “Bobby” (Caroline); granddaughter, MacKenzie Hauser (his little angel); step-granddaughters Kimberly Wood and Lyric Robertson; nephews, Richard Enscore (Penny) and Jonathan Rakestraw (Bettie Jo); niece, Laurie Wietbrock (Scott); and special friends, Vernon Gambill, Bob Scott, and Bill Harmon.

 

Funeral services will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park.
