Caribou & Port St. Lucie, FL - Robert "Bob" Dow, the voice you heard on WEGP in the 60's, WDHP in the 70's and WABI-TV Sports in the 70's, died on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 12, 1950, to Clarence B. Dow Jr. and Wilma Mae (Cox) Dow.
Bob grew up on Bradley Street with a whole bunch of other great kids and graduated from Caribou High School in 1968. By then he had worked at the Caribou Taste Freeze, picked his share of potatoes, and started at WEGP rocking the nights away. Bob went onto sports at WABI-TV, managed his family's WDHP radio station, and managed Lewiston and Windsor Canada Racetracks.
In addition to his mother Wilma Dow, he is survived by three children he was immensely proud of, Jessica Dow, Ryan Dow, and Chad (Jocelyn) Dow. He is also survived by three grandchildren, the apples of his eye, Carley, Ryan, and Skylar. He also leaves behind Judy's grandchildren, Emma and Olivia, who thought the world of him and he felt the same about them. His fiance', Judy Wolf, brought a sense of contentment and happiness the last few years of his life, sharing together a good life in Florida. Bob will also be remembered by his sister, Sharon (Rick) Williams and his brother, Dr. Jeffrey (Nittaya) Dow, his uncle, Freeman (Sue) Dow, and aunt, Kate Dow, and many nieces, nephews and cousins that all meant so much to him. In addition to his father Clarence, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Baude Dow.
Bob didn't care about a funeral, but a celebration of his life with family and friends will be held 2PM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Evergreen Cemetery in Caribou. So please come and share a story or two as Bob would like that. Arrangements in care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, ME 04736.
