April 13, 1950 ~ March 31, 2024
Robert A. Perina, 73 passed into eternal life on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024 in Charlotte, NC. The loving and caring son of Alvin and Ethel Perina ( née: Donovan) Bob was born and raised in Castleton Corners, SI. He was a proud graduate of Port Richmond High School and Stoneybrook University graduating with a BS in Mathematics. After graduation, he worked for Royal Insurance Company in Manhattan as a Statistician, eventually relocating with them to Charlotte NC in 1986. Upon retirement, he was highly respected and he continued to work for them as a consultant. He studied Transcendental Meditation and this was an important part of his life.
Over the years he amassed many friends in many states. Bob enjoyed spending time with them talking about astronomy and politics, playing ball, traveling, watching movies, hiking, attending BBQs and Taco parties, attending concerts and listening to classical and oldies music such as the Moody Blues and reminiscing about the good times.
But one of Bob's favorite interests was sports. Especially baseball which was a sport he and his father shared a strong interest in. His mind was an encyclopedia of stats on all things sports but especially baseball. His favorite teams were the Mets and the Boston Red Socks and the Jets. But he also enjoyed watching ice hockey and the Islanders.
He will be remembered as a very good and honorable man. Highly principled and always wanting what is fair and just for the average person. Always a Gentleman. Always kind hearted and concerned about others. If there was something he could do to help he would.
He is survived by many loving cousins and friends who were very Blessed to have shared in his life. He will be sorely missed.

So sorry and saddened to hear of Bobs death.
We are very dear and long time friends of his but had lost contact with him in the last couple of years due to my husband Mark Ratner´s own health crisis. (And recent death)
He was like an uncle to my three kids who also loved him.
Did he have any family/relatives we could send our condolence's to.
Mark spent four years of collage at Stonybrook with Bob and continued their friendship over the last 50 or so years.
Bob always kept sports data handy and was crazy about the Red Socks. Mark loved the Yankees so they differed there.
They both started TM in collage about 1970 as mark went on to become a teacher of tm Bob remained a devoted meditater who took many retreats and courses himself.
He was a great human being and a kind and loving friend to us and many others.
Wish we got to see him more in the last years but he will always be in our hearts

Our Deepest Sympathy to the Perina Family on the loss of your beloved Robert.
Such a good guy with a kind soul. Was a standout PRHS cross country and track runner in the 70's.
