Robert George Pfeiffer died at the age of 83 on April 6th, 2024 after an extended illness. Throughout his illness and its many challenges, as in all of the experiences of his life, Robert was a kind, cheerful and gentle soul whose sense of humor was infectious.
Robert was born on June 21st, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky seven minutes after his identical twin brother, Richard Norton Pfeiffer, to Marie (Mattingly) Pfeiffer and Fred Pfeiffer, Jr.
Robert graduated from Eastern High School in 1958 and earned a degree from Duke University in accounting in 1962. He spent most of his career working for and eventually leading, as CEO, Neill LaVielle Supply Co., a family company.
Robert's hobbies and interests included playing golf, maintaining an immaculate lawn, downhill skiing, and, his lifelong passion, flying. He received his pilot's license in the 1980s and flew for both business and pleasure for many years. Introducing downhill skiing to his three daughters and four step daughters was one of his proudest accomplishments.
A devoted member of Christ Church United Methodist, Robert served in multiple leadership roles within the church. As its Chair of Trustees, he oversaw the design and building of the Memorial Wall and Garden, a sacred place where members of the church may choose to have their ashes spread. His ashes will be spread in a private ceremony with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon; his daughters, Betsy Gibbs, Susan Haidet and Robin Handal (Jason); his step daughters, Kim Weeks (Alex Dunlop), Kathryn Weeks, Kristin Weeks, MD, and Karen Weeks (Jeff); 16 grandchildren and step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and his cousin, George Pfeiffer (Sherrie). He was predeceased by his parents and brother.
He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, kind and supportive father and step father, and cheerful and interested grandfather and step grandfather. In his life as a partner, parent, colleague, boss, and friend, he was revered and respected by all who knew him. In the words of a longtime friend, "If you couldn't get along with Robert Pfeiffer, you couldn't get along with anyone."
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 15th 2024 at Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Road. A light lunch and visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the music ministry at Christ Church, 4614 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40207.
Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember."

Sharon, We are so sorry for your loss but know that you did all you could, with deep love and devotion, caring for ROBERT during his recent health struggles. I shall always remember what a wonderful host ROBERT was when we, your childhood girlfriends who grew up in central Florida, spent a wonderful weekend with you two enjoying The Derby festivities. It was obvious that he loved you, your family and life itself. Blessings and prayers for all.
