Robert Paul Wessel, Sr.,94, left this world on August 1,2025, at Norton's Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 7, 1931 to Virgil and Lorena Wessel he lived his life in Louisville. He graduated from Valley Highschool, where he met his wife, Juanita Dickman, who passed away in 2017 after 66 years of marriage. He is survived by his brother Arthur Wessel and his nine children, Cindy Harpring(Don), Pamela Wessel, Bobbi Jo Weber (Willie),Debra Marshall (Joe), Robert Wessel, Jr. (Joan), Rusty Wessel (Suzi), Missy Harlow (Steve), Mary Rose Schmeing (Troy), Theresa Young (Rob), 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He was a broker with Simmons Wessel Realty and established Wessel Insurance Agency. He was a friend of Bill W since November 9, 1960, whom he had the honor of meeting in Toronto, Canada in 1965. He was instrumental in founding the Talbot House and starting the Rough River Round Up. He spent his last 64 years devoted to helping people in recovery. He was a U of L fan and an avid fisherman, taking his last fishing trip to Mexico in May. He was blessed with many friends who have been so supportive as he aged. Our family is so grateful to his friends, his drivers, Hosparus and the medical staff at Norton's. Memorial gifts to be given to The Talbot House, 520 West St. Catherine Street, Louisville, 40203. His Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M. Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation at Ratterman Southwest 4832 Cane Run Rd, Friday, August 8, 2025 2 P.M. to 8 P.M.. For those attending the Funeral Mass on Saturday please park at Ratterman Funeral Home 7336 Southside Dr. and walk across the street to the church.
