Robert E. Widmer

Robert E. "Bob" Widmer, age 92, of Sterling, died Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Village, following a period of declining health.
Bob was born on March 29, 1932 in Sterling to the late John and Mary (Riggenbach) Widmer and was a life resident of Sterling.
He graduated from Sterling High School in the class of 1951 and married the love of his life, Joann M. Imhoff on June 12, 1954. Joann preceded him in death on September 16, 2016.
Bob and his brother, Joseph, owned and operated Widmer Brother's Dairy Farm where he worked with his brother for 44 years. Following his retirement from farming in 1997, Bob worked for Sterling Farm Equipment for 18 years.
He was a member of the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church, Wayne County Farm Bureau, Ohio Holstein Association and former board member with Landmark. He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by his children and grandchildren and all that knew him.
Surviving are daughters, Cindy (Roger) Maibach and Dawn (Richard) Dotterer; sons, James (Karen) Widmer and Jon (Mary) Widmer; grandchildren, Scott (Mandy) Maibach, Jodi (Marc) Beer, Mark (April) Dotterer, Michael (Gina) Dotterer, Matthew (Calla) Dotterer, Jill (Dave) Christian, Julie (Jarin) Tucker, Jana (Tim) Yeh, Jason (Janelle) Widmer, Alex Widmer, Katerina Widmer and Ivan Widmer; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Widmer and Addison (Georgia) Widmer; sister, Jeanie Stoller; sister-in-law, Marlene Widmer; and numerous other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joann; brothers, Joseph and Dale Widmer; and sister, Margaret Everhard.
Services will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rittman Apostolic Christian Church, 10699 Steiner Rd., Rittman with ministers of the church officiating. Bob will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Joann, at the Apostolic Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman and from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Village.
