Ronald Lee Churchill, age 75 of Belleville, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at St. Joseph Mercy hospital of Ann Arbor, where he was a patient there since late April. He recently moved back to Michigan, after residing in Arizona for the last 12 years. He has now made his home in Belleville with his son.
Born April 7, 1948 in Monroe. He was the son of the late James Avery and Ruth (West) Churchill. Ron attended Monroe High School. Ron met the love of his life: Iretta Monday while working. Together they were married on August 27, 1966 together. They raised a family of three children and spent over 45 years together until Irettas passing in 2011.
Ron worked at General Motors Hydramatic Powertrain Plant in Toledo, Ohio. He was a lineman for 30 years before taking a medical retirement in 1999. In his younger years, Ron loved to bowl and play in bowling leagues. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed going hunting and fishing.
In his free time, he liked being in his workshop, mainly wood working. He made many lawn projects like little lighthouses and other things for his family to enjoy. Most importantly, Ron liked spending his quality time with his family. He will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.
Beloved father of Rhonda (Shawn) Davis and Michael (Nicole) Churchill. Loving grandfather of Kelsey (Zack) Standifer, Kyle (Kai Belman) Goins, Kassidy Goins, Mykal Churchill, Xander Churchill, Kaden Churchill, Randall Harper, and Elisha Liteo. Great grandfather of Brady and Bryant Standifer & Willem, Kellan, and Alice Goins & Kaylee, Tristian, and Luke Lieto. Stepbrother of Carl Sommers, Fred Sommers, and Pam (Ted) Peterson. Also survived by daughter-in-law: Julie Churchill and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by wife: Iretta Churchill, son: Gregory Churchill, siblings: Wayne Churchill and Brenda Walker, and stepfather, Curt Sommers.
Everyone is invited to a visitation on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 to 7 pm. A Celebration of life service will be held that night at 7pm. Officiating is Pastor Harold Raines. In accordance with his wishes, services will conclude in cremation. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Woodland Cemetery.
