Ronald "Ron, Butch" Allen McKenzie Jr., 69, of Burtchville, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, in his home surrounded by family. Born on August 7, 1955, in Port Huron, Michigan, to Ronald Sr. and Irene McKenzie, Ron was a man whose life was defined by his selflessness, handiness, and loving nature.
Ron graduated from Port Huron Northern High School in 1973. On June 11, 1977, he married the love of his life, Pamela Harvey, and together they embarked on a journey that would span 47 beautiful years. Their love blossomed into a family with the birth of their daughters, Michelle and Amy. Professionally, Ron dedicated 16 years as a skilled mechanic before transitioning to a factory worker, a role he held for over 20 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, finding excitement in fishing, camping, and deer hunting. Canoeing was one of his many passions, as was woodworking, where he expressed his creativity and skill. Later in life, he found joy in legos, and started to build his collection right up to the end. Above all, Ron's greatest joy was spending time at the cabin with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; daughters, Michelle (Petter) Johnson and Amy (Donald) Stearns; grandchildren, Justin, Zachary, Riley, and Mackenzie; parents, Ronald Sr. and Irene McKenzie; sisters, Teresa Meyers and Vickie Collins; extended family and many good friends.
His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and the countless lives he touched with his warm spirit. Those who knew Ron will remember him as the man who could fix anything, who always had time for a friend in need, and whose love for his family was as vast as the great outdoors he so cherished.
As we bid farewell to Ron, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us. Ron's life story is not one of an end, but a beautiful reminder of the impact one person can have on the world around them. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Ruby Community Church, 6650 Abbottsford Rd, Ruby, MI 48049, on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with visiting at 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow. Arrangements were provided by Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel of Port Huron.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
