Canandaigua – Ronald E. Owren, age 80, passed away unexpectedly at Strong Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Owren; two sons, Jeffrey (Barbara) Owren and Christopher (Margaret) Owren; four grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Davison, Amy, Mikayla and Austin Owren; sister, Hope Gaisser; sister-in-law, Sherry Podolak; and several nieces and anephew. He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Frank Podolak and James Gaisser.
Ron was born in Montclair, NJ and was the son of William and Doris (Saalbach) Owren. He and his family moved to DeWitt, NY, where Ron graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School. He attended Syracuse University.
Ron had a 40 year career in sales with Hanes Corp and the Vernon Company. In his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at Sonnenberg Gardens, The Fort Hill Performing Arts Center and St. Mary's Church.
Friends may call Monday, from 4-7 pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial mass will be celebrated Tuesday, at 11 am, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, 16 Gibson St., Canandaigua, NY 14424 or UR Medicine Home Care Foundation, 2180 Empire Blvd., Webster, NY 14580. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
