Ronald Scheuermann Obituary

Ronald J. Scheuermann, 91, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his children.
This incredible man entered the world on April 27, 1934, in Queens, New York to Elsie Kenngott and Charles Valentine Scheuermann. A New Yorker through and through, he graduated from Manhattan College with an engineering degree and later earned his law degree from Fordham University.
He was proud to have served in the United States Air Force for three years directly out of college and then found his way back to New York City where he excelled in sales with IBM. Always funny and charming, it was not until a chance meeting at an IBM training program that Ron met his match, Susan Brawner, and fell in love.
Ron and Susie shared a love and friendship that lasted longer than their 62 years of marriage. Together they raised three wonderful and devoted children: Ronald Scott Scheuermann, Susan Craig Scheuermann and Justine Scheuermann Cirello.
Ron retired after many years as a corporate attorney in New York, and he and Susie relocated to Amelia Island, FL in 2001. From their new home Ron and Susie continued their adventures and traveled the world.
Ron happily spent his days on the water or on the links, always appreciating the natural beauty of the island. But even retirement did not slow down his commitment to giving back to his community.  He was a guardian ad litem for many years in Nassau County and continued his work with Habitat for Humanity.
He would tell you that all the above does not matter.  That his accomplishments and successes amounted to nothing when compared to being a father and a grandfather.  The joy and pride he felt for his grandchildren; Ronald Valentine Scheuermann, Hannah Rose Scheuermann, Ava James Cirello and Lucas Craig Cirello, was boundless.
Ron was a man of so many talents.  He taught his children to be curious and loyal. He taught us to keep trying and to ask questions.  He taught us to laugh at ourselves and leave places better than we found them. He gave us a love of art, books and the ocean.  He taught his children and grandchildren how to body surf, and it is our most treasured and enduring tradition. Most importantly, he taught his children to love life and the people around them.
With a mischievous twinkle in his bright blue eyes, he would want us all to remember the power of a smile.  No matter what he had going on, he always had a smile for friends and strangers alike.  He has brightened days, brought love and comfort and even enlarged our "family" through the power of that sincere, warm smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Charles Scheuermann, his siblings, Joan Paffman and Paul Scheuermann and his beloved wife, Susan Brawner Scheuermann.
His children would like to extend their appreciation to Community Hospice for their compassionate support and to all the wonderful people at The Lakeside who loved him and have become family to us.
Ron will be honored on July 1, 2025, at 10:00am with a graveside service at Bosque Bello cemetery in Fernandina Beach, FL.

Ron and I were lucky enough to marry 2 Brawner sisters, Susie and Beth respectively.
Ron was always the sparkplug for our visits in Montclair NJ by Beth and me and later, for week long July 4 visits for both of our multigenerational offspring at their home in Amelia for over 50 consecutive years.
Thanks a million Ron
