Ronald G. Schneeweis, of Abington, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Tuesday, July 8, 2025. He was 82 years old.
Born in Philadelphia on January 5, 1943, Ron-affectionately known as "Ronnie" to family and friends-was the beloved son of the late Gustav and Katherine (née Floesl) Schneeweis. He was the devoted husband of Patricia A. (née Ruffner) Schneeweis, who survives him.
Ron grew up in Abington and graduated from Abington High School. A proud Boy Scout and U.S. Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Jason (AR-8) during the Vietnam era. There, he trained as a machinist and tool-and-die maker, repairing ships at sea-skills he carried with him throughout his life.
A dedicated member of his community, Ron served for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the McKinley Volunteer Fire Company, proudly alongside his father, Gustav, and son, Jonathan.
Ron had a deep love for his family and a passion for camping, trains, firetrucks, photography, and Disney World-places and memories that brought him joy.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, Ron is survived by his sons: Jonathan E. Schneeweis (Lumelle), Franklin P. Haverkamp (Sandra), and Edward S. Haverkamp; his grandchildren: Benjamin Schneeweis, Zachary Schneeweis, Courtney Haverkamp, Kelly (née Haverkamp) Sweeney, Meagan Klinger, and Erika (née Klinger) Kulp; and his great-granddaughter, Callie Rae Kulp. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Schneeweis.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Ron's life on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 1801 Old York Rd. Abington, PA 19001. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a time of sharing at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Wishing peace and comfort to the entire family. Will always remember Ron running out of the house putting on his boots when he would get a call for a fire....and of course, we will never forget his attention to detail with his special Christmas display each year.....
