Ronald Norbert Thompson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born June 14, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky. After a full and fulfilling life, he passed away on November 17, 2024, at his cherished home in Borden, Indiana.
He was a proud graduate of New Albany High School in 1959. Ronald began his career at Koetter Construction before embarking on a decades-long journey with AML, Inc. General Contractors in 1993, where he made lasting contributions that will be remembered by those who worked alongside him.
Ronald was a man of many interests and passions outside his professional life. He took immense joy in being PaPa to his grandchildren and great-grandson. His love for the outdoors was apparent in his dedication to hunting and fishing, particularly the elk hunting adventures he cherished in Wyoming. He found fulfillment in supporting Personal Counseling Services, Inc., embodying the caring spirit that defined his life.
Ronald was a proud member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and Ducks Unlimited, and his dedication to these communities spoke volumes about his character and values. He was a constant source of support and love, particularly for his immediate family, who are heartbroken yet grateful for the time they shared with him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Drucilla "Drue" Mae Thompson, his sons Ronald W. Thompson and Chris "Critter" (Jennifer) Thompson, his sisters Joyce Maureen Muscatello, Marilyn (Louie) Griffin, Therese (Dave) Winstead, and Kathy (Steve Razor) Sperzel, and his brother Pat (Rhonda) Thompson. Ronald's legacy continues through his grandchildren Hanna, Lily, Tanner, Lauren, and Jake Thompson, as well as his great-grandson Varian Staggs. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Carla Thompson, sister-in-law Jonelle Thompson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank R. and Mary "Jerry" Wessel Thompson, his son Matthew Todd Thompson, his brothers Garry "Bub" Thompson and Terry Joe Thompson, and brother-in-law, Dan Muscatello.
The family invites friends and relatives to celebrate Ronald's life during the visitation on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana in New Albany. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Christian Church in Borden, Indiana.
