Roxanne Evelyn Taylor

Roxanne Evelyn Taylor of Elizabeth City, NC, beloved sister, friend, and cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. Born on August 25, 1959, in New York, NY, to the late John Taylor and Barbara Skeete Taylor, she graced this world with her presence for 65 years.
Roxanne built a respected career as an accountant for a Financial Group, where her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication were admired by colleagues and clients alike. Beyond her professional life, Roxanne was known for her deep love of music, with her favorite performer being Sade. She delighted in creating songs, often finding a melody in the most mundane of moments. Her passion for music extended to her love of sports, especially basketball, where she could always connect a game or play to a tune. She was a faithful member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach, VA.
An ardent Anglophile, Roxanne held a particular fondness for Princess Diana, whose grace and compassion inspired her own life. Described by those who knew her as tough but fair, Roxanne lived by the creed of giving selflessly, embodying the phrase "she would give the shirt off her back." Her profound care for others consistently outweighed any concern for herself.
Roxanne chose to shine brightly, providing light and love to those around her. Her strength and kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. As her brother said, "There's now darkness in the world where there used to be light."
Roxanne leaves behind her devoted brother, Jeremiah Williams of New York, NY; her sister, October Skeete; a niece and nephew, Teresa Moscat and Deshawn Mason; along with a host of treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory dear. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, and two brothers, Richard and Jefferey Taylor.
A memorial service to celebrate Roxanne's life will be held this summer at St. Francis Episcopal Church, located at 509 S. Rosemont Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Specific details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church.
