Ruth Iverson Obituary
Ruth Adams Iverson passed away from old age on September 7, 2022, surrounded by family. She was 89 years old. She was cared for by her three loving children and one loving in-law.
Ruth was born in Provo, Utah on June 9, 1933. She was the youngest daughter of Samuel Conrad and Delilah Booth Adams. She grew up with four sisters and her Brockbank cousins. Her childhood was filled with family, visiting family in Bunkerville, NV and spending summers in Provo Canyon. She loved Provo 4th Ward where her testimony of Jesus Christ started.
She attended Provo High School. Upon graduating she attended Brigham Young University, studying Elementary Education. She was a member of Val Norn. She spent her junior year at the University of Michigan. When school was out for the summer she would work at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. She would reminisce about those seven summers with happiness and gratitude. She developed life-long friendships during those summers.
Upon graduating from BYU, she secured a teaching position at Central Elementary School in Brigham City Utah. She taught 3rd grade for several years. This is where she met and married Verl Joseph Iverson. They had six children: Kay, Vern, Willy, Elsie, Rosie, and Monica. Together Verl and Ruth taught their children to love the Gospel, work hard, play hard, and most importantly serve and be kind to others.
Ruth was in the Parent Teachers Association and held leadership positions on the state and local levels. She loved being involved in politics and participated in the Women Legislative Council. She also was an avid quilter, knitter, and reader.
Ruth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her church callings and assignments were varied and many. She filled them with enthusiasm and joy. Her favorite place was in the Primary. She also served in the Ogden Temple for many years.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Katherine Joyce Iverson DeWitt of Brigham City; Vern Quincy and Jill Iverson of Huntsville; Wilford Adams and Erin Iverson of Bear River City; Elsie and Stan Rowlan of Morgan; Roselee and Steve Hatch of Forrest, VA; and Monica and Tim Pryor of Twin Falls, ID. She is also survived by her sister Mary June Hamblin of Provo, UT. Twenty-eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Ruth married Verl Joseph Iverson on May 29, 1957, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Verl tragically drowned on August 20, 1993, at Willard Bay. Verl was the son of Joseph Wilford and Annie Gertrude Jensen Iverson.
She is preceded in death by Verl Joseph Iverson; Kim Cloward Iverson, daughter-in-law; Adam Iverson, grandson. Sisters: Elsie, Connie, and Florence.
