Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel on Dec. 30, 2025.
Ruth Ann (Williams) Peacock, age 86, of Marion, passed away on December 26, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth Ann was born on September 3, 1939, on the family farm on Somerlot Hoffman Road in Marion. She was the daughter of Brenaldo "BC" Clyde and Gladys Marie (Seiter) Williams. Educated in Marion, Ruth Ann was the Class President of the Pleasant High School graduating class of 1957. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from The Ohio State University and later completed her Master's Degree.
On November 24, 1961, Ruth Ann was united in marriage November 24, 1961 to her junior high school sweetheart, John William Peacock. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church on Smeltzer Road, where Ruth Ann grew up and was baptized.
Ruth Ann devoted her professional life to education, teaching at Pleasant Schools for nearly 30 years. She began her career teaching sixth grade, with the majority of her years spent teaching second grade. She also served as a substitute teacher for two years while living in Connecticut.
In the 1980s, Ruth Ann, John, and several friends formed the "C.R.S. Bike Group," which met regularly and continues to gather for lunch to this day. Ruth Ann enjoyed weekly games of Euchre with family and friends and was a member of the Creators Guild and the League of Women Voters. A true sports family, the Peacocks especially loved cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes in football and basketball. Ruth Ann was also a gifted quilter, creating beautiful bedspreads and wall hangings that she lovingly gifted to her grandchildren.
In retirement, Ruth Ann and John traveled throughout the United States in their travel trailer, visiting every state except Hawaii. Their adventures took them to the Southwest deserts, and National Parks including Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands and Arches along with one of their favorite parks – Monument Valley in Southern Utah and Alberta, Canada, among many other destinations. Often included in their travels was time spent searching for butterflies and moths. Wherever life took her, Ruth Ann truly enjoyed the ride.
Ruth Ann will be remembered for her kind and generous soul-always happy and jovial. She loved being with people and had the rare ability to connect with individuals of all ages. Most of all, she cherished her family and was deeply proud of her grandchildren and even more proud to have become a great-grandmother.
