Ryan attended St. Louise School first grade through 8th grade. Ryan attended high school at Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park where he was third in his class, and then moved on to college at Northwestern University for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He was part of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity where he made many life long friends.
After finishing his graduate program, he moved to Seattle for a few years where he worked for Microsoft, before returning home to Chicago to be close to his parents and siblings. It was back in Chicago where he met his future husband, Brad, after joining a recreational kickball league. They were married just 4 short months ago.
Ryan was just starting his next venture at the University of Chicago, with the goal of earning a degree in Social Work.
Before Ryan left this earth too soon, he enjoyed filling his time writing, reading, spending time outside for walks and runs along the lake, and spending his time with Brad. He was an Avid photographer, writer, and reader.
He absolutely adored and loved spending time with all of his nieces and nephews whether it was building legos, playing play-doh, or joining on a trip to the park or zoo. His big blue eyes and his electric smile lit up a room.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, we welcome you to make a donation to one of the following organizations in Ryan's memory. Ryan was an avid writer and reader and participated in the Novel in a Year program at Story Studio Chicago. Ryan also volunteered with Howard Brown Health, a truly wonderful organization that provides healthcare to the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago.

My name is Terra Campbell and I am the Interim Director of Strategic Relations at Howard Brown Health. I was the volunteer manager when Ryan joined us as a volunteer. He even volunteered on my team helping to set up our Partnership Hub. He was a warm, kind, and giving individual. I am saddened by this loss but happy to see he was so loved!

I am deeply saddened to learn of this news. Ryan and I worked together while he was at Arity. I loved working with him - so thoughtful, analytical, creative and well intending and an overall human being. You are missed Ryan and may you rest in peace.

This is a great sadness. When I saw Ryan's photo, I remembered him quite well.
I feel bad for his family and will keep all of them in my prayer.

Dear Letcher and Baum family,

I am heartbroken to learn of Ryan's passing and am so sorry for each of your losses.

It's been quite some time since I visited the Letcher household back in the summer of 2009, but I can distinctly recall how much love filled your home. A hallmark of my relationship with Matt and Justin is how fiercely the Letcher siblings love each other. Thank you for sharing that love with the world.

Love,
John Gallagher
