Salina Amit Patel

Salina Amit Patel, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025 surrounded by her family, at the age of 23.
Beloved daughter of Amit and Mira Patel. Dear sister of Nikhil Patel. Cherished granddaughter of Jashbhai Patel (the late Vinaben), Pushpaben Patel (the late Satishbhai Patel), and Balwantbhai and Subhadraben Patel. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as, her faithful companion, Basset.
Salina Patel was born on September 23, 2001 in Detroit to Amit and Mira Patel. She graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School and earned her Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University whilst going through her cancer treatments.
Salina cherished her family, often cooking new and delicious meals for them and experimenting on a variety of new recipes in the kitchen with her dad. She was an accomplished violinist, having played from the age of four onward. She routinely qualified and won awards for her performances throughout her entire childhood and teenage years, and played at some of the biggest venues, such as the DSO's Orchestra Hall.
When Salina was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma in January 2022, she was determined to fight her cancer with everything she had, despite having a diagnosis that gave her only months. Through numerous surgeries, radiation sessions, therapy visits, chemotherapy, and other medications, her will to fight her cancer never waivered. Through her resilience, she greatly beat the odds on her survival expectancy. Her strong determination to not only fight but enjoy each day through all the treatments is a true testament to her zest for life. She was always ready to take on any and all challenges that were in her path, and she never wavered from looking forward and enjoying time with her family and friends. While battling, she got to see Paris and Rome, and visited her UK family in August 2023. She also achieved her desired milestone of being a college graduate in August 2024. Sadly, her journey came to an end just over three years after her initial diagnosis.
Her surviving family will remember her as an incredibly brave and courageous woman who is stronger than anyone that we have met, and their memories of Salina will be of someone who beat the odds and inspired other cancer patients to always keep fighting.
