Sally Jasso

Sally Ceja Jasso, 72, of Indio, took her last breath on November 29, 2022, surrounded by her
family and friends. She is survived by her husband Cipriano Jasso, her sons Steven Jasso and
Cipriano Jasso III, her daughters Melanie Toy and Katrina Jasso, fourteen grandchildren, one
great-grandchild, and many others that considered her a sister, mom, grandma, Tia, and friend.
Sally was born on October 11, 1950 to Jose and Isabel Ceja in Fresno, California and spent her
early years in Coachella, California where she attended Palm View Elementary School,
Dateland Junior High, Coachella Valley High School, and College of the Desert. She was a very
bright student and in 8th grade she won 1st place in the county science fair. She also played
softball in junior high school and was a cheerleader in high school. Sally was a teacher for Tiny
Tots, as well as a Summer Day Camp Supervisor at the Desert Recreation District.
She was a proud alumni and member of the Coachella Valley High School Class of 1969
Reunion Committee, a member of GFWC Woman's Club of Indio, a softball coach, and a
supporter of many community organizations including the 20-30 Club, Job's Daughters,
DeMolay, and Rotary of Coachella Valley. She was always there to provide a helping hand.
Sally was very active and full of life. Attending family, school, athletic, and community
celebrations and events with her children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins
was always something she looked forward to. If not with family, she was on adventures near
and far with friends. Other pastimes included listening to music, watching her novelas, reading,
sewing, craft projects, and especially cooking. Her culinary delights were requested for every
gathering.
In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened". Sally
brought joy to the lives of others and will be remembered with much love.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 pm at St. John's
Episcopal Church in Indio. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at
10:30 am at Our Lady of Soledad in Coachella followed by the burial at Coachella Valley Public
Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Fitzhenry Funeral Home or lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to the Coachella Valley High School Alumni Association.
