Mrs. Sara O'Neal age 81 of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully from this life on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Life Care Center of Tullahoma.
A native of Bedford County, Sara was born on May 14, 1943. She was the daughter of the late N.P. (Dink) and Ethel Gibson Barton, and was married to her beloved husband, Phineas O'Neal, for 62 years prior to his passing.
She is survived by her son, Daryl Malone (Amanda) O'Neal; son-in-law, Michael Gene Hutson all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jonathan Michael (Kristen) Hutson, Brady Malone O'Neal and Landon Charles O'Neal; great-grandchildren, Cole Taylor Hutson and Knox Malone Hutson; and sisters, Patricia Ann (Bob) Finney and Betty (William) Rutledge, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn O'Neal Hutson; and siblings, Jean Reed, Marie Pickle, Howard Barton, Norman "Butch" Barton, and Peggy Rogers,
A faithful member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Sara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love for family, and the joy she found in life's simple moments. Her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the ball field – always cheering them on with pride and love. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, prior to the funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home.
