Sara Lynn Johnson

Sara Lynn Johnson, 63, of Edgerton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 5, 1961, in Edgerton to Donald and Marjorie (Lien) Johnson, Sara lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for her family and community. A proud graduate of Edgerton High School in 1979, Sara pursued higher education at UW-Stevens Point before earning an associates degree in Fashion Merchandising from MATC and a bachelor's degree in Information Studies from UW-Milwaukee. In 1985 she answered the call to serve her country by joining the US Navy, where she served aboard the USS Ajax and the USS Shenandoah. After her honorable discharge in 1988, Sara continued her commitment to service through the Navy and Army Reserves. Most recently, Sara worked in the purchasing department at the VA Hospital in Madison, where she formed close bonds with her coworkers, whom she considered extended family. She was also a devoted member of Central Lutheran Church in Edgerton. Sara will be deeply missed by her mother, Marjorie, her siblings Michael (Jeanne) Johnson, Lori (Mike Hart) Johnson, and Lisa (Roger) Venden; and her cherished nieces and nephews Tyler (Emily) Johnson, Hal (Nicole) Johnson, Emily Johnson Rowley, Luke (Sheila) Caviggiola, Sam Caviggiola, Tom (Nina) Caviggiola, Josh (Nikki) Venden, Jake (Dawn) Venden, and Beau (Jen) Thoreson; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald; and grandparents Howard and Lorraine Lien and Albert and Mary Johnson. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Sara's coworkers at the VA Hospital and the compassionate staff at Agrace Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgerton Veteran's Housing Project, Jenson Cemetery for Perpetual Care, or Agrace Hospice. A public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Central Lutheran Church, 100 W. Rollins Street in Edgerton.
