Sean Hunter Wilburn October 21, 1999 – June 27, 2025 Sean Hunter Wilburn, age 25, passed away on June 27, 2025, at his home in Long Beach, Mississippi, where he was living while attending the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Park campus. Originally from Oklahoma, Sean remained deeply connected to his home state throughout his life. He was a real virtuoso, a determined young man with a strong willed spirit and a kind heart. His goals in life were pursuing his dreams with passion and purpose. Sean was a senior at the University of Southern Mississippi majoring in Marine Biology. He served with passion as President of the Eagle Coastal Organization, where his enthusiasm for community engagement left an incredible mark on everyone he met. As a gifted multi-instrumentalist, Sean played the guitar, banjo, piano, and drums, and he also composed original music that reflected his creativity and depth. As a passionate fan of live music, he never missed a chance to go to a concert and had always dreamt of touring with his own band across the states. He loved taking trips to wildlife and aquarium exhibitions to capture and showcase their natural beauty with his artistic ambience. He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially cherished fishing and kayaking-most memorably, paddling alongside dolphins in the Gulf. He loved cheering on the OKC Thunder and the Oklahoma Sooners, and shared that excitement with friends and family. He was a natural athlete- He was the quarterback of his football team, a skilled first baseman in baseball, and a sharp trick shot basketball shooter. He was exceptional on rollerblades and loved playing hockey on any slab of concrete he could find. He is survived by his mother, Cathy Walker; his sister, Ashley Lankford, and her husband, Woodrow, along with their sons, Israel and Elijah; and his sister, Taylor Blonner, and her husband, Quintin. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Amy Cardwell; his grandmother, Laura Jane Walker; and his father and stepmother, John and Robyn Wilburn. In addition to his immediate family, Sean is lovingly remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished him deeply. And always faithfully by his side was his beloved German Shepherd, Karma Sue, who has been a good girl and constant companion since she was a puppy-now 12 years old. Sean's presence brought laughter, intelligence, and warmth to everyone around him. He inspired all who had the privilege to watch him grow and master his many talents. His memory leaves us with a lifetime of cherished moments-and a space in our hearts that no one else could ever fill.
