Shannon Michael Althouse, 44, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Shannon was born on January 10, 1981 in South Bend, IN to the late David Althouse and surviving Rebecca Althouse. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Denice Althouse, step father, Randy Flanagan, cousin, Jay Markin, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Left to cherish the memory of Shannon is his wife, Mary, son, Nathan, step children, Jessica (Peter) Ribaudo, Joe Hedrick, grandchildren, Sera Fiechtner and Vinny Ribaudo, sister, Lindsay (Roberto) Cruz, and nephews, Caleb and Luke Cruz.

Shannon graduated from Washington High School. He continued his education attending Loyola University in Chicago, then Purdue University in West Lafayette. Shannon was a passionate and dedicated enthusiast of all things sports. His heart belonged to Notre Dame and the Cubs. His extensive collection of sports trivia was impressive and he thoroughly enjoyed getting together for weekly trivia nights.

He also had a standing nightly date with his "sweetheart", Mary, competing in the popular quiz show Jeopardy.

Not only did Shannon have a deep affection for sports, but he was also a devoted animal lover. He cherished the simplicity of life, finding his greatest joy at home surrounded by his family. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Shannon's legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Visitation for Shannon will be at St. Joseph Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025 and 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.
