Sharon I Schmutz

Sharon Ilene Schmutz of Abilene, Kansas passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, April 19th in her home. She was born June 21, 1947, to Ralph "Pete" Schmutz and Phyllis Dobbins Schmutz and was the 6th of seven children. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1965, attended Emporia State Teacher's College, and moved to Dallas, Texas where she lived and worked until her return to Abilene in 1982. Sharon worked in civil service at Fort Riley for several years. Shortly after her retirement from civil service, she worked for the Alco-Duckwall corporation in Abilene alongside her sister, Bev Schmutz and later for the Holiday Inn Express, Abilene, finally retiring in 2022. She was a member of Emmanuel Church and a regular attendee of Community Bible Church both of Abilene.
Sharon was known for her keen sense of humor, quick wit, and ease at making friends. You could often find her enjoying a meal at Joe Snuffy's, where she didn't know a stranger! She was a friend to many, loved her sons deeply as well as her siblings, cousins, nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters. She is survived by her two sons, Carlos Padilla of Dillon, Colorado and Christopher Puglise of Abilene. She will be deeply missed by us all.
